The AOTS Success Story Convention was held in the United Nations University with all contributors of 10 "excellent" stories (best practices) duly selected from 198 success stories, which had been submitted by ex-participants in 26 countries. Each contributor (presenter) made a presentation, with a strained look but passionately, in the activity fields of “Technology TransferE “Cultural ExchangeEand “Social ContributionEfor the AOTS Awards in each activity field.

The Convention aimed at sharing the golden rules of success in their activities applying what they had learned during AOTS training in Japan with the relevant stakeholders. Those 10 best practices had definitely outstanding contents in view of achieving the aim.

Furthermore, in the later part of the Convention, a panel discussion entitled “The Significance and Importance of Human Resource Development for Capacity Building of the Private Sector in Developing CountriesEwas conducted with the participation of representatives from the relevant international organizations. Their discussion was very intensive.

Ms. Warisa Amonchanchaikul (Thailand)

A resident of Bangkok, Ms. Amonchanchaikul works at the HRD Center of Denso International Asia Co., Ltd. She currently serves as a technical instructor at Denso Training Academy Thailand (DTAT). To date she has trained as many as 3,000 employees in total.

*Ms. Amonchanchaikul makes a presentation on behalf of Mr. Songtham Hattha, who submitted the report.

"RIL, Hazira Success Story-Growing Seeds of Excellence together with AOTS" (PDF 214KB)

Mr. Neeraj Dhingra (India)

A resident of Surat, Mr. Dhingra worked as a polyester department manager at Reliance Industries Ltd., India's largest private company, and currently serves as the leader of the Quality Department at its Hazira Manufacturing Division. Mr. Dhingra played a central role when the division was awarded the Deming Prize in 2007.

Mr. Yap Wai Luen (Malaysia)

A resident of Johor Bahru, Mr. Luen received technical training in production control, IE and various techniques at Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd. Since returning home he has been working as the manager of the assembly department of his company (J.K. WIRE HARNESS SDN. BHD.). He has successfully implemented company-wide IE-based productivity improvement techniques.

A resident of Dalian. Since 1995 Ms. Lilin has been working at DALIAN XINNENG INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT Co., Ltd. and the Dalian AOTS Alumni Society. Currently she serves as the chief secretary for the society.

Mr. Hugo Lopez Araiza Vega (Mexico)

A resident of Mexico City. In 1985 Mr. Lopez founded the Brain Computer Center, a company dedicated to education in computers, and since then has been serving as its president. From 1995 to 1999 Mr. Lopez served as president of the Mexico AOTS Alumni Association (Asociacion de Ex-Becarios de AOTS Mexico-Japon AC).

A resident of Chennai, Mr. Ranganathan founded his own software company after having worked at a port service company, and currently serves as chairman of Nihon Technology Private Ltd. In 2005 he was awarded The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays for his contribution of many years to friendly relations between Japan-India. He is president of the Chennai AOTS Alumni Association.

A resident of Cochin, Mr. Morris worked for the Madras state government, a machine tool manufacturer and then KAMCO (a cultivator manufacturer). He served as director at KAMCO and one of its affiliates, Kerala Agro Industries Corp. Currently Mr. Morris serves as president of the Alumni Society of AOTS, Kerala.

A resident of Samut Prakan. Since 1989 Mr. Srijohn has been working at the Siam Cement Public Co., Ltd., Thailand's largest cement manufacturing company, and currently serves as its senior manager. In 2001 his website "Farm Phun" was honored by the government as one of the excellent websites targeted at young people. Since 2007 Mr. Srijohn has been on the board of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Ms. Amira Dali (Nepal)

A resident of Kathmandu, Ms. Dali participated in AOTS technical training courses after studying at a college in Japan. Through her studies and training she was greatly influenced by the consciousness of equality, work ethics and problem-solving methods prevalent in Japanese society. Upon returning home, while working at a Japanese-affiliated company, in 1991 Ms. Dali founded an NGO "Love Green Nepal" and since then has been engaged in promoting rural development and women's education.

Mr. Kwabena Dankyi Darfoor (Ghana)

A resident of Accra. From 2000 to 2006 Mr. Darfoor was engaged in technical support activities for domestic small businesses as director of the Gratis Foundation. His successful service at the foundation was so highly appreciated that Mr. Darfoor currently serves as program manager for Microprojects Management Unit, an EU-Ghana joint business.

On 28 October 2009, the following day of the Convention, 10 success story presenters made a courtesy call on Mr. Tadahiro Matsushita, Vice Minister of METI. In a very friendly atmosphere, they reported Mr. Matsushita on their outcomes of the AOTS training in Japan respectively.
