- Management Training FMMI and QCTC Started
- AOTS launched the Factory Management in Medium-scale Industries (FMMI) and the Quality Control Training Course (QCTC). QCTC celebrated its 30th anniversary in FY2008 and the commemorative round-table talk was held (PDF838KB)
- AOTS Started Accepting Chinese Trainees
- After the restoration of diplomatic relations between Japan and China, AOTS accepted 17 technical trainees first. The number has continued to increase. The biggest number of trainees come from China today.

- AOTS 20th Anniversary Commemorative Top Management Seminar on Japanese Business Implemented
1980
- The Chinese Factory Management Course (CNFM) Started
- The Chinese Factory Management Course (CNFM) is the first management training course AOTS designed for China. Each course lasted for 6 months. These courses were available till FY1985.
1982
- Tokyo Kenshu Center Opened (New AOTS Head Office, April), Seminar to Honour the Opening of Tokyo Kenshu Center Held (Establishment of AOTS Alumni Societies Proposed by Participants)
- The Tokyo Kenshu Center opened in Adachi Ward as AOTS's first Kenshu Center in Tokyo. AOTS Head Office moved from ABK to the Tokyo Kenshu Center to start new activities. The Tokyo Kenshu Center has been and is a place for active exchanges between local people and trainees.

- The Program for Quality Management (PQM) Started
- PQM started as management training course for middle to senior managers promoting quality management and engaged in quality improvement. Future executive candidates study ways to promote TQM activities under the lead of Chief Instructor Dr. Noriaki Kano.
- Training Course for Learning Japanese Work Ethics, Based on Malaysian Government's "Look East" Policy, Started
- Unlike training conducted in cooperation with private companies, training course for learning Japanese work ethics, based on Malaysian government's "Look East" policy was founded. Accepting government-funded trainees added a new aspect to AOTS programs. AOTS accepted about 1,152 trainees by FY1977. JICA also accepted Look East trainees.

1983
- The Executive Program on Corporate Management (EPCM) Started
- The Executive Program on Corporate Management (EPCM) was launched as a training course for top management. It is available today. Chief executives and executives from various countries participate in the course every year to study practical business strategies based on case studies.
1984
- Dhaka Office Opened, Kuala Lumpur Office Opened
- Overseas Offices are a base for AOTS overseas strategies to respond to an increasing number of trainees and diversified training areas. Countries of trainees have requested the opening of overseas office in their countries. In response to such request, AOTS opened the Dhaka Office and the Kuala Lumpur Office, following the opening of Bangkok Office in Thailand.
- Trainers' Training Program Started (~2000)
- The "Trainers' Training" Program is AOTS's first Training Seminar for Japanese Instructors of Overseas Trainees. AOTS created the "Specialized Technical Training Instructor Manual" based on its experience of the program.
- Ceremony to Mark 25th Anniversary of AOTS Held
- Various commemorative events were held, in addition to the ceremony to mark 25th anniversary of AOTS on November 6. These events included a top management seminar in 1985 and publication of "Japan Experience of Trainees from Developing Countries", which described various encounters with trainees and intercultural experiences.

- Training Course for Korean Engineers, Sent by Korean Government, Started (~1999)
1985
- "Japan Experience of Trainees from Developing Countries" Published
- First AOTS Top Management Seminar Implemented
- AOTS implemented a Top Management Seminar to commemorate its 25th anniversary. Seventeen top executives from 11 developing countries participated in the seminar to study cases of business diversification, technology transfer and some other important strategies followed by Japanese companies. The seminar, which was the first-ever seminar organized by AOTS to respond to the need for business transfer to developing countries, ended successfully as it was highly appreciated by all participants.

1986
- The 1st Convention of AOTS Alumni Societies Held in Tokyo
- When AOTS moved its head office to TKC in 1982, AOTS established guidelines for the formation of the alumni societies and alumni societies were formed by ex-trainees in their respective countries. To further enhance cooperative ties between AOTS and alumni societies, the First Convention of AOTS Alumni Societies were held, with 28 alumni representatives from 20 countries and 5 observers from 3 countries participating. The convention announced the basic idea of partnership between AOTS and alumni societies.

- Lecturing Tour Started
- In accordance with the request to open a seminar on Japanese business management and quality control, etc. in individual countries at the 1st Convention of AOTS Alumni Societies, AOTS and Alumni Societies launched a "lecturing tour" program. Under the program, AOTS sent a lecturer upon the request from an alumni society and depending on a theme of lecture, and the lecture is given in 2 to 3 cities at a time.
- "AOTS Japanese-English Dictionary for Technical Study" Published
