To All Participants who will be participating
in AOTS Training Courses in Japan

April 28, 2011
The Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship

The Great East Japan Earthquake that struck on March 11, 2011 caused enormous damage mainly in the northern (Tohoku) region. In particular, a large number of cities and towns along the east coast stretching from the prefectures of Iwate to Ibaraki were subject to catastrophic damage.

In the 45 days that have passed since the earthquake, however, the affects have been fairly limited in regions outside of those areas near the epicenter.

We would like to provide those who will be participating in training courses in Japan as well as related parties with the following status update regarding AOTS.

[AOTS Status Update]

1.Operational Status of Training Centers

Each Training Center is operating as normal providing accommodation and meals.

2.Update on Course Implementation

Training courses have been implemented according to a set schedule. The 6-week course (General Orientation Course) began on April 13 at Kansai Kenshu Center (KKC), which involves 15 trainees from Malaysia, Thailand and China. Also, the General Orientation Course has started at Chubu Kenshu Center (CKC). As of April 27, a total of 82 trainees representing eight countries are training at KKC and CKC.
