The Outcome Survey of AOTS Training in Japan

At AOTS, we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of our establishment in FY 2009 and has conducted the Outcome Survey (see Figure 1) as part of our ex-post evaluation, in order to gain a clear overall picture of the effects of AOTS training in Japan. This Outcome Survey consists of the following:

. Evaluation Interview Survey
. Awareness Questionnaire Survey
. Success Story Survey

The Outcome Survey will highlight the effects of AOTS training in Japan from a long-term, qualitative perspective at the level of the individual ex-AOTS training participant (ex-participant), at the level of the organization to which the ex-participant belongs, and at the level of the industry or local community to which the organization belongs, in light of the ultimate aim of AOTS, which is the co-existence and co-prosperity of humanity.

This time, AOTS published a report on the Outcome Survey. Your kind perusal would be appreciated.

Ⅰ. Evaluation Interview Survey

As well as talking to ex-participants and other relevant people in a socially important position in developing countries, concerning the ripple effects that AOTS training in Japan had at the level of the industry and the local community, we will seek hints regarding future needs in the field of industrial human resource development and expectations of AOTS. We conducted this survey in China, Thailand and Indonesia during FY 2007, in India and Mexico during FY 2008.

FY 2007 Evaluation Interview Survey Report

* Reports on the Evaluation Interview Surveys conducted during FY 2008 are included in the above "Report on the Outcome Survey on the AOTS Training in Japan."

Ⅱ. Awareness Questionnaire Survey

We will ask about the long-term impact of the experience gained by ex-participants through their training in Japan in terms of their awareness of "developing their country", "relationships with Japan" and "contribution to the international community".

The submission deadline is over. Thank you very much for your cooperation.

Ⅲ. Success Story Survey

Making use of the knowledge and experience gained by those who have participated in AOTS training in Japan, we will ask ex-participants to compile a report about activities conducted after returning home that have led to success in the workplace or the local community, in order to examine how AOTS training in Japan contributed to that success.

Moreover, we will make use of these valuable reports on experiences of success by ex-participants as a means of promoting success by other ex-participants, by sharing them with as many relevant people as possible, particularly other ex-participants.

The fields of activity on which the survey of examples of success stories by ex-participants will focus are as follows:

  1. Technology transfer (the transfer of Japanese industrial technology, management technology, legal systems)
  2. Economic or cultural exchange
  3. Social contribution (contribution to the local community, contribution to the international community)

The selected success stories will be published on the AOTS web site after the first round of screening and review.

In addition, following the second round of screening, around 10 people whose success stories are considered to be particularly excellent will be invited to give presentations at the AOTS International Symposium (provisional name), which is due to be held in the latter half of FY 2009, in order to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of AOTS.

The top presenters, as selected by external judges, will be awarded a prize relating to the relevant fields.

The submission deadline is over. Thank you very much for your cooperation.
