Types of General Orientation Courses

Types	Course Period	Japanese Lessons	Intended Participants and requirements of participation
J13W	13 weeks	included	For trainees requiring sufficient Japanese language ability in the specialized technical training, and when the total training period is within 365 days
J6W (the standard course)	6 weeks	included	For trainees requiring a minimum level of Japanese language ability for living and training in Japan, and when the total training period is within 365 days
A9D	9 days	not included	For trainees having a certain level of proficiency in Japanese defined by AOTS. (*Note), and when the total training period is within 365 days
9D	9 days	not included	When the specialized technical training is done using a language which trainees can understand, e.g. English, and when the total training period is within 120 days

Note:

Proficiency is judged by the "Chukyu (intermediate-level) Completion Test" in the WBT AOTS Japanese Language Ability Test.
