These rules provide details of the obligations and other pertinent matters that trainees should follow during their period of training in Japan. Participant in an AOTS Training program are required to observe the AOTS RULES RELATING TO TRAINEES.(PDF File 186KB)

  • Alien Registration

If a trainee is going to be in Japan for 90 days or longer, this trainee must register as an alien. And Japanese law states that he/she must carry his/her "Alien Registration card" at all the times.

When a registrant has changed his place of residence, he/she must notify the municipal office of his/her new place of residence within 14 days of moving.

AOTS does not apply for Alien Registration for the trainee (except for trainees on the13week general orientation course). If a trainee is going to be in Japan for 90 days or longer, this trainee must register as an alien as soon as possible after beginning his Specialized Technical Training by Host Company. This application should be made at the municipal office of the city, ward, town, or village in which he/she is living with the person in charge of the host company. When registering, this trainee needs his/her passport and two head-and-shoulder photographs (the same size as the photograph in his passport).

AOTS trainees are covered by health and accident insurance to protect them against the costs related to sudden sickness, injury, and death during training in Japan.
